The vulnerability and marginalization faced by the girl child labourer makes her situation
far more acute. Being a child, a labourer and a girl she faces discrimination on all counts.
Like other children she also needs care and protection from adults. However, many times
she is forced to  take on adult responsibilities, face economic exploitation at the cost of
her education and development. As a working child she also experiences discrimination
regarding wages and faces exploitation of the worst kinds.This course addresses girl child
labour and its elimination as one requiring urgent and particular attention.
9.1 Learning Objectives
 
During this course the student will-
           
1. Understand the gender dimensions of child labour
2. Study the dynamics of girl child labour
3. Get an overview of causes of girl child labour
4. Learn special strategies for elimination of girl child labour
 5. Study the problems in elimination of girl child labour

9.4 Method of Instruction
 The course will be conducted through interactive lectures, panel discussions, and
small group assignments. Library work and internet research is an integral part of
this course. The faculty will include renowned national and international-experts in
child labour laws.
9.5 Internal Assessment
 The candidate will study a girl child labourer and prepare a case study with the help
of a visual presentation.
